Micro Needling

What is Micro Needling?

Micro needling is a collagen induction therapy .It utilises the body's own healing mechanism for stimulating collagen. Multiple needles are used to induce trauma to skin. It causes a natural inflammatory response which starts inflammatory cell migration ,proliferation ,matrix deposition and tissue remodelling . Amongst these , there are fibroblasts which create collagen fibres which form the structure and filament in the dermis of skin. Collagen production is affected by intrinsic factors like age, genetics and by extrinsic factors like uv light, pollution and smoking.

Collage fibres give smoothness and elasticity to skin . Decreased collagen causes the presence of fine lines, increased wrinkles,  decreased recoil capacity of skin causing stretched pores, thin skin and fragility of skin.

Micro needling is a process in which controlled injury is done to the skin. Thin sterilised needles are used to puncture the skin in different depths depending the area on the face. These stimulate collagen and give smooth and firm even texture to the skin.

It also helps in shrinkage of pores , reduced acne scars, fine wrinkles and decreases pigmentation .

What to expect after a Microneedling session?

On day 1: The skin appears erythematous and bleeding spots might be seen.

On day 2: A red hue is present on the skin and mild swelling might be noticed.

On day 3: skin might appear pinkish in color , swelling will reduce.

It takes about 2-3 days for healing to occur .

Is it good for people with acne scars ?

Acne scars are atrophic scars. These are rolling scars ,boxcar scars, ice pick scars . There is a loss of tissue below the skin surface.

Microneedling helps in inducing collagen and hence increased collagen tissue in the skin .This reduces the appearance of scars .

Multiple sittings are needed to correct the acne scars depending on the depth of the scars.

What are the benefits of microneedling ?

  • Decreased appearance of scars.

  • Decrease in fine lines, wrinkles.

  • Decreased dark spots ,hyperpigmentation.

  • Reduction in size of pores .

  • Decreased stretch marks

  • Improved skin tone

  • Youthful appearance

  • It can also promote hair growth when used on the scalp.

Can micro needling be combined with other treatments?

Micro needling can be combined with other treatments like Biomodulators, GFC, mesotherapy.

Your plasma and platelets with growth factors are separated from your blood and injected into the skin, these growth factors further stimulate collagen formation  and healing. These are first injected into the skin and then are used along with micro needling to stimulate COLLAGEN.

When mesotherapy is done agents are used according to the requirements of the skin

For example if skin brightening is required then glutathione or vit C is used.

For hair growth minoxidil is used along with micro needling

What is the cost of micro needling?

Micro needling can start from 5000 RS per session depending upon the agents which are used.

How many sittings of micro needling are required ?

Multiple sittings are required for the best results .However results can also be seen after the first week of the first session

For the best results 3-4 sittings with a time gap of 4-6 weeks are required
